The Story Behind Valentine’s Vintage

Every love story begins somewhere… and mine began with a little VW campervan called Valentine.

Long before Valentine’s Vintage became a dream, there was Valentine himself — our much-loved VW campervan, who has been part of our family since my two boys were just babies. Together, we spent precious days travelling to family festivals and classic car events, making memories, meeting wonderful people and falling in love with a world where the past is cherished and every little detail tells a story.

And then came the dresses…

The very first time I slipped into a beautiful 1950s dress with its glorious, swishing petticoat, something magical happened. I was completely and utterly smitten! The feminine silhouettes, the tiny waists, the full skirts and the elegance of a bygone era captured my heart, and I knew I had discovered something truly special.

But my love for vintage goes far beyond a pretty dress. I adore the history hidden in every piece — the wonderful fabrics, the exquisite craftsmanship of 1940s dresses, and the resourcefulness of wartime make do and mend. There is something wonderfully romantic about holding a vintage handbag and catching a faint whisper of its past, imagining the ladies who once carried it, the places they visited and the secrets it might hold. From treasures dating back to the 1920s to the glamour of the 1950s, every piece has a story waiting to be loved again.

As my passion grew, so did my dream. Along the way, I have been incredibly fortunate to meet some truly beautiful vintage ladies who have encouraged me, believed in me and inspired me to follow my heart. Their kindness has given me the confidence to turn my love of all things vintage into something I can share with others.

And so, Valentine’s Vintage was born — a little piece of nostalgia, a celebration of timeless femininity, and a place where beautiful vintage clothing and accessories can find their next chapter.

I spend my days seeking out special treasures, from fabulous dresses and pretty petticoats to charming handbags and delightful accessories, hoping that each one will bring a little happiness to someone new. I believe vintage is about so much more than what we wear. It is about individuality, memories, craftsmanship, romance and the joy of discovering something that makes your heart skip a beat.
